I feel good, actually, particularly from the standpoint of the fan. The average Joe in the US wouldn't have cared had we won (and probably doesn't care that we lost). The average Joe in Ghana is probably dancing in the street right now. It is their first World Cup appearance ever, and they've advanced to the second round by beating the #2 team (Czech Republic), and #5 (USA). They lost to Italy, 2-0. Now I think they play Brazil (usually #1) in the next round. Quite a task, then again, beating the #2 and #5 teams in the world isn't too shabby, if you ask me.
